A Counterpoint Challenge
Among the many interferences which the army makes with the right of the people to hear the truth is a regulation which prohibits us from conducting a poll on how soldiers feel about the war without prior permission. We are now seeking that permission, and we publicly challenge the army to let us, or an independent poll-conducting agency, take a poll on Fort Lewis to determine how enlisted men regard the war in Vietnam. LET US SEE, ONCE AND FOR ALL, WHO IS INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT THE TRUTH AND WHO IS AFRAID OF THE TRUTH! We dare the army to test its repeated claims that only a few soldiers oppose the war. We dare the army to let the men who have to fight this war express their opinions about it to the public. We dare the army to try and find out the truth.
