Roger Priest Is The First Seaman To Be Court-Martialed For Statements Made In Antiwar Newspaper.
Washington, D. C.: Roger Priest is the first serviceman to be court-martialed for statements made in an antiwar newspaper. Navy Judge Raymond Perkins wanted to dismiss the case, but Adm. G. P. Koch got the judge to “reconsider” his decision.
One of the charges is that Priest used “contemptuous words against Mendel Rivers”, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. It has been discovered that Rivers is pressuring the Navy to make an example out of Priest. The trial started April 14.
Priest faces a maximum of 39 years. GOOD LUCK, ROGER!!
